I'm an American on an 30-day extension of a 30-day exemption I got when I flew in. Now I've applied for a non-b, my paperwork was accepted, money collected, multiple copies of overstay rules sign And I was told to come back on the very last day. Has anybody heard of this? What do I do if I DON'T get the non-b? 7-day extension and then out of the country, right?

TLDR : Answer Summary
An American expat currently on a 30-day extension of a visa exemption has applied for a Non-B visa and is unsure what to do if the visa is not granted upon returning. Commenters mentioned that in Bangkok, a Non-Immigrant visa application might be under consideration for up to 14 days, hence it's vital to have at least 15 days remaining on the current visa to avoid complications. If the Non-B visa is not received in time, the individual may need to request a 7-day extension and eventually leave the country.

That IS reassuring. Thanks.

One other thing, in Bangkok IF they take your paperwork and your 2000baht fee, they stamp on the receipt when you come back for the results.

I've never seen anyone NOT get the visa once it goes under consideration. If it won't fly they won't even take your application or your money.

Again that's just in Bangkok

how many days left on the 30 day extension did you have when you applied for the Non-B visa?

I am only speaking for Bangkok but when you apply for a Non-Immigrant visa they go "under consideration" for 14 days before you go back and get the 90 day Non-Immigrant visa stamped into your passport.

That's why you need 15 or more days left on your current stamp
