On a non-o with retirement extension. Will go back to US for 2 months and will have to renew my passport while there. Any issues with getting back into thailand with my stamps not being in the new passport? Thanks in advance…

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you are on a Non-O visa with a retirement extension and you renew your passport while in the US, you should not face any issues re-entering Thailand. It is advised to bring both your old and new passports upon your return. Your re-entry permit in the old passport will allow you to enter Thailand, and you can then visit a local immigration office to transfer any relevant stamps to your new passport.

Better go back 1st & renew. America is a mess now & passport renewal is by mail, could be 6-10 weeks.

No just carry both and when you get back go to immigration and have your stamp transferred

If you mean that you have a Extension of Stay based on being over 50 and you have a reentry permit and you will be returning to Thailand before your extension expires, then you will not have a problem. When you enter Thailand, just bring your old and your new passporsts.

No issue. Bring both passports with you and show the officer your re-entry permit in the old passport. They’ll stamp you in on the new passport.
Then go to your local immigration office to get your extension stamp and re-entry (if multiple) placed in the new passport. Once done you can forget about having to need the old passport.
not quite true in my experience. After getting a new passport and stamps moved in March I needed copies of both passports for my extension of stay application this month. I also needed both passports when requesting statements from the bank, they issued a new bank book as I'd changed passports. And, although I haven't done it yet, I suspect I'll need both passports when I go to renew my driving licence later in the year.
