What should I do if my Thai visa application status changed unexpectedly after I submitted a new application?

Just had an interesting situation on my application. I initially submitted a first application (London) but was notified by email that it will be cancelled because I indicated the wrong passport issue country, however the application status stayed at *pending document check*.

So I submitted a new application, and additional documents have been requested and submitted, this new application is currently pending document check as well.

However, a few hours ago, the status of the first application changed to *pending approval* as confirmed by an email from the embassy (in attached screenshot). Note that even though the email says it would be changed to pending document check, when I checked, it was actually changed to pending approval.

Has anyone encountered this?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The poster has faced an issue with their Thai visa application where a status change occurred unexpectedly. After initially submitting an application that was meant to be cancelled due to an error, they submitted a new application that is also pending review. However, the original application status changed to pending approval despite an earlier notification of cancellation. In the comments, users suggest contacting the embassy directly or waiting for the first application to be officially cancelled.

I will do that actually. Thanks!

How long after the cancel email did you submit a new application? If too quick, the clunky system might have made an error - you might get a new cancelation

DTV_BegPecker after the first cancel email changed it to request documents, I resubmit passport to see if it goes through the second time, but I noticed there was no update on it for a while, so I was worried they would just ignore it.

I submitted the second application while the first one was still pending document check (after resubmitting the passport document), then I received an email again the following days (after submitting the second application) that the first application would be cancelled again. It changed to request documents again after that email.

The thing is, since then, they’d already requested additional documents for the second application and the process seemed to be going well, until this happened.

DTV_BegPecker - how much time between each of these steps though? Can you share a screen shot of the cancel email?

Yesterday (22nd), I get this email related to the *first* application. Then I noticed the status had changed from request documents to pending approval. The *second* application still remains pending document check.

Then on 21st, I got an email requesting my actual flight e-ticket downloaded from the airline's website for the *second* application, which I uploaded same day. Mind you, the *first* application's status is still "request documents" since that last cancellation email.

On 17th, I got an email requesting a bunch of additional documents for the second application, which I uploaded same day.

On 15th, I got this email related to the *first* application. The status changed again to request documents.

Then I resubmitted it with my passport on the same day (10th) and the status changed to pending document check, I didn't get a reply for a couple of days, and from info online, I realised it was unlikely the application would go through, so I submitted another application on 14th. So now both applications are pending document check.

I received this email on 10th of October which was the day after I submitted the application.

You should've just waited for the 1st one to be cancelled.

there was a chance that they would never cancel it, they could just leave it at request documents. I couldn’t wait to see because I needed to make travel plans.

If I were you, I'd try to call them and talk to someone to explain what you did so that they can get your files straightened out.

they never take calls, at least not since I’ve been trying to reach them in London.
