Hello,
I have METV which expires on 21 August. I purchased 30 day extension on 21 April through to 22 May.
I've just visited Jomtiem Immigration to get my stamps update and try to purchase and additional 30 days.
Immigration gave me two different pieces of advice. First officer said that I must leave by 31 July even though my visa is valid until 21 August. Second office said I cannot buy 30 days because I have not re-entered Thailand recently, but that am ok until 21 August and if I want to extend further I must leave and re-enter the Kingdom by the 20th August.
Can anybody give any clarity on which scenario would be true for my situation please?
TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) that is valid until 21 August but received conflicting advice regarding extension possibilities. One officer at immigration insisted they must leave by 31 July despite having a valid visa, while another advised that they could stay until 21 August but needed to re-enter Thailand to extend their stay further. Given the current situation with travel restrictions, other users suggest the best option is to wait for updates regarding the handling of visa situations during the pandemic.
