I’m an Australian passport holder and in on a 30 day visa excempt and it runs out on the 16 th on Sunday . I was going to get the 30 day extension today but it’s a holiday until Monday which would put me a day over . If I did a land crossing to Lao would that give me another 30days or45 days . Or could I just pay the 500 for one day overstay and get 30 day extension on Monday . Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
An Australian passport holder is facing an issue with their 30-day visa exemption expiring on a holiday. The individual considers options like doing a land crossing to Laos for a new visa or paying a fine for overstaying. However, community responses suggest that since the expiration falls on a holiday, they can visit immigration the next business day without facing an overstay fine, as the fine is likely to be waived due to the holiday. They are advised to go in with a positive attitude and apologize for the oversight.

Just go in on Monday. Go in with a smile and apologize profusely for not knowing it was the anniversary of the the late King's death. You should be fine. The late fee should be waived if you al really apologetic you be fine. But you should always check the reporting date does not fall on a weekend/holiday.

You probably should have thought about it earlier but go in to immigration on Monday the overstay fine will probably get waived but maybe noted that you have overstayed pay 1900 baht and 30 day extension the 45 day visa exemption is only for first entry not extension of visa that remains 30 days

If your end date falls on a weekend or holiday, you can just go the next possible day they are open. No overstay fine.

Go in on Monday. You’ll get an overstay stamp but it’ll say “fine waived due to closure”.
