TLDR : Answer Summary
A single father, stranded in India with his Thai minor son, asks about re-entering Thailand. Despite holding a valid one-year multiple entry retirement visa, he finds himself unable to return due to current immigration restrictions. Comments suggest contacting the Thai Embassy in New Delhi for assistance and emphasize that the son can enter Thailand, while the father faces challenges. The conversation touches on the emotional aspect of family separation and urges caution in future travel planning.

Not for nothing. Sri Lanka is nice. If you don't care to hang-out in India.

Why not? Jesus did ( well maybe not Sri Lanka)

Find a place to sit tight in India until this blows over. We are in a similar situation and stuck in Thailand. We cannot return home because home for my wife and I are two different places and our son is stuck in the middle.

Most comments on here are pretty heartless. Families should stay together and I believe that was the basis of the question.

hardly heartless-- some truthful comments and important lesson hopefully learned. Also very practical and accurate advice on contacting the thai embassy. frankly, it was startling bad judgment to choose this time period to decide to skip over for a holiday with a child in India which is having it's own virus--related problems.

I'm sorry, I have to say for the future maybe u will learn-- in the midst of all this is when u thought it was a good idea to take ur son out of Thailand for a quick holiday? the warnings were on the horizon, but even before the lockdown, there was a requirement to have a health certificate, where did u think to obtain that once out of Thailand?

for your son, I sure hope u will get a return, but the odds are stacked against you. I agree the best bet is the Thai embassy or consulate.

Which part of India are you staying? Thai Embassy is in New Delhi but you got consulates in Chennai, Mumbai and kolkata. Approach them in person. They may help you since you are responsible for a minor Thai citizen.

your son can get in being a thai, YOU on the other hand at this time cannot get back into thailand because they are ONLY allowing foreigners on visa/extensions who hold work permits OR who have permanent residence status

Maybe you should consult the Thai Embassy in New Delhi and tell them about your predicament at the moment only diplomats and foreigners with work permits are allowed into the country
