What does a visa stamp type of 'non-RE' mean for my work and residency plans in Thailand?

I have just noticed my visa type is not non-B as I expected but something called non-RE, something I have never heard of before. I work in BOI company and have a WP. I am aiming to get the permanent residency next year. Am in in trouble?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user was confused about their visa classification, which appeared as 'Non-RE' instead of the expected 'Non-B'. According to comments from other users, 'Non-RE' indicates that the individual entered Thailand on a re-entry permit linked to a non-immigrant visa, and it does not pose any issues for their residency status or plans for permanent residency.

It means you used a re-entry permit.

It's re-entry for non-immigrant type of visa

There is no problem with that stamp. "Non-RE" in the VISA CLASS field of the entry stamp means you entered on a Re-entry permit with a Non-Immigrant visa/extension of any type (B, O, ED, etc), in your case with an extension based on employment.

You don't have to worry about it.

phew thank you so much! ChatGPT told me it’s a special type of visa for religious and charitable work πŸ€ͺ that was quite a scare, starting my PR journey from scratch

, Religious-related visa is Non-R/Non-RA, not Non-RE. Most AI is using the information on the internet, which contains a lot of incorrect information still, sadly.
