How can I keep my Non-O visa valid if I leave Thailand shortly after entering?

Non-O visa, my wife and I both have been granted the 90 day visa and will enter Thailand at the end of December. However, we will exit 2 weeks later to close up existing home. Do we just need to obtain a re-entry stamp to keep the visas alive and can we do this at the airport on arrival having activated the visa?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the Non-O visa holders planning to enter Thailand and subsequently exit shortly after. The consensus is that you cannot obtain a re-entry permit upon arrival; instead, it must be purchased before leaving Thailand, typically at an immigration office or airport. There are also points raised about the implications of having a single-entry visa and possible alternatives for entry.

I think Aarons idea above is a better plan.I also think Peggy is correct.

Thank you for all the comments, but if Peggy is correct that means you cannot leave Thailand until the 12 month extension has been granted, and that does not sound correct?

@Andrew *******
, Peggy is not correct.

Buy a re-entry permit before you leave and you will keep your 90 day stamp alive.

You can buy that either at an immigration office or ar the airport before departure.

This is an idea. Use visa exempt on your first entry. Use your non-o visa on your second entry.

That would be okay for my wife but not for me as mine will expire before entry. We will discuss with the IO and see what can be done.

@Aaron ******
we have a situation where this would work for us but not sure you can do it

I was just gonna say the same

agree, using a non O for such a short trip seems a waste unless you are using it for bank accounts, rental lease. Leave the non O as Aron suggests

I hear someone in this group tried that and the immi officer said you have a visa - use that.

Isn’t the Non-o visa 90 days a single entry visa?

If so, once “used” by entering Thailand that’s it.

A re-entry permit won’t do you any good then as you have no visa to connect it to?

Incorrect based on personal experience. I left and returned on initial non-o twice earlier this year, purchased 2 re entries.

Must be in country to extend at the end of the initial 90 days and under consideration for a month.

Get the re-entry permit at immigration office or at the airport BEFORE departure
Wannikea *********
You can't buy the reentry permit upon arrival, you buy it when you depart Thailand

You can purchase a re entry permit when exiting let the IO no you need one 1200 baht unless you have the forms and pictures then 1000
