What should I do if I can't find local witnesses for my Thai marriage visa extension in Khon Kaen?

Hi Guys,

I am after advice on my application for visa extension based on marriage to a Thai citizen. I am aware of the requirements, however, there is a slight issue regarding 2 local witnesses from home area attending the office to attest for us.

The problem being that I entered Thailand early June and after quarantine I went to our rented condo in Khon Kaen and then purchased a new property. The purchase is complete and my wife is completing the blue book today so plan to start the visa extension process next week. However, we visit the property daily but have not moved in yet as we have various deliveries of household goods coming and fitted units etc.

So the problem will be getting to meet locals and asking them to attest for us.

In this situation is there another option to provide proof as we know plenty of people in Khon Kaen but just not in that local area.

We were planning on possibly paying local people for their time to attend the office to attest for us, so this could be an option.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance πŸ‘

TLDR : Answer Summary
The poster seeks advice on obtaining two local witnesses for their visa extension based on marriage to a Thai citizen while residing in Khon Kaen. They have recently completed property purchases and are facing difficulties in finding local witnesses to attend the immigration office. Suggestions from the community include selecting friends from Khon Kaen to act as witnesses, emphasizing that witnesses don't have to be from the exact local area but must provide identification and details of their residence.

You have to bring 2 people, you know plenty, pick 2 of them willing to join you.

There is no address requirement for a witness to tell that you are a couple and live together, but they have to bring their ID card and their own blue book.

IMPORTANT REMINDER: The OP Is using Khon Kaen immigration. I'm removing advice that does NOT apply to that immigration office.

Where is the TM30 filed? At this new property, or at the condo?

The information lades at the immigration office does NOT issue the extension of stays; immigration officers issue those extension of stays. I think it's be better to submit the extension of stay, and get the witnesses, at the condo you're currently in, and then move to the property after the under consideration stamp is closed out.

it is filed at the condo at the moment but maybe can change that before filing for the visa extension. Was going to do it from the condo but when speaking to the information lady in immigration office about requirements she advised us it would be easier and better to apply for the extension from the new property.
