What should I do after Bangkok Bank closed my account due to my DTV visa status?

Hi all,

Bangkok Bank has closed my account.

I came to Thailand this year with a DTV visa and tried to open a bank account at several banks, but none accepted the DTV visa. Later, I bought a condo, and since the process required a bank account, I opened one at the seller’s bank, Bangkok Bank.

A couple of days ago, Bangkok Bank blocked my account. When I visited the branch, they gave me two options:

1. Convert my visa to a Non-Immigrant Visa to keep the account open, or

2. Close the account.

Since the Non-Immigrant Visa doesn’t offer the same advantages as the DTV, my account was closed. Now, I own a condo in Thailand but don’t know how to pay the electricity bill, and neither do they.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user reports that their account at Bangkok Bank was closed because they held a DTV visa, which is not accepted for maintaining the account. The bank offered the option to convert to a Non-Immigrant Visa or close the account. The user opted to close the account, but now needs advice on how to pay their electricity bill, as they own a condo in Thailand. Comments from other users suggest various payment options, including paying bills at 7-11, using a digital wallet like Truemoney, or seeking assistance from the condo's management.

Then it is your decision that you don’t want a Thai bankaccount, when you won’t change to a visa that is eligible with having a Thai bankaccount

Just get a Truemoney wallet, you can pay QR and pay bills etc. Only difference is you have to withdraw cash from an atm and then load it into your wallet via a Truemoney store machine (upto 20k) or via 7 Elven and Lotus (2k each per day limit).

Saves me and my wife a lot of hassle. Highly recommend it

Take the bill to 7-11 and pay cash or you can pay in person at your local provider office/branch!
