Do I Need to Resolve an 'Under Consideration' Visa Status to Qualify for Amnesty in Thailand?

Hi Guys,I realise this subject has been covered here but I am not sure what is the current advice so I will really appreciate your comment. I entered Thailand on Feb17th (30days visa exemption) which got extended for another 30 days till April 16th. Then on April 8th, I got 'under consideration' stamp (covid reason with embassy letter). As you can see in the attached pic I am supposed to contact the office tomorrow but I am on another island and would rather avoid the hassle of travel. So do I really need to close this 'under consideration' process in order to qualify for amnesty? If yes does it matter if I do it tomorrow or later before leaving the country? Many thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring whether they need to finalize an 'under consideration' visa situation to be eligible for visa amnesty in Thailand, especially since they are currently on a separate island and wish to avoid the travel hassle. Comments suggest that others in similar situations have been told by immigration offices that it may not be necessary to return for the second stamp to complete the extension process. However, there is advice to resolve the stamp for peace of mind before leaving the country.

I am exactly in your situation. I called the Surat Thani Office twice and on both occasions have been told I do not need to go there because of the visa amnesty. The thing is advisable to close this kind of stamps. I'm in Ko Pha Ngan and Surat Thani is a long way from here but I am thinking to go there anyway one of the next few days. Just to be sure. Having been told won't be a surety when you leave the country unfortunately.

Just one more thing: the nightboat does not leave every night. So we have to check day by day when the boat is available.

I got in contact with Samui office too but unfortunately we have a Surat Thani stamp. They told me we have to go to Surat Thani. Anyway you don't need to go there by tomorrow, that's for sure. The most comfortable way is to take the night boat from Thong Sala at 9 pm. You arrive there at 5 am. Go at the office at 8:30 when they open. It won't take long. So you can go back to the pier on time the 11:00 speedboat to PN. The only thing is the office is a long way from the pier. You need to take a tuk tuk or a cab, ask the driver to wait for you because the place is in the middle of nowhere and go back with him. A little expensive so. Anyway we can go together, if you want, and can share the cab at least.

I am on KP as well but have not got lucky to contact the office - they never answered the phone;). If you indeed make this trip (btw why don't you consider going to Samui office? Are they closed?) could you please update me? Thanks so much.

Contact the Suratthani Immigration office and ask them

That office I believe is telling people they don't need to go back and get the second stamp to complete the extension process

Check with them or post on one of the f/b pages related to the southern islands and see what they say.

I'm sure you're not the only foreigner in that situation
