DTV EXTENSION BORDER BOUNCE

My girlfriend is approaching her first 180 day extension (due next month) for her DTV Visa. I understand that you can do a simple border bounce to get the new 180 day stamp. Is that correct? The most convenient border for her is Malaysia.

When she does the border bounce, she will have a copy of the DTV Visa she received by email, the DTV sticker in her passport, and all of her original documents that she submitted with the application with her. But do any of the documents need to be updated because obviously they will be 6 months old? For example, bank statements, her work portfolio etc.

Thank you for any advice.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired about performing a border bounce to extend their girlfriend's DTV Visa in Thailand. They asked if any documents need to be updated for the process; community members assured that she would primarily need her visa confirmation email, and that there shouldn't be any issues related to the age of her documents. Some clarified that no sticker is necessary in the passport and indicated that the process should be straightforward.

If she got the DTV online thru the eVisa website at a thai consulate she'd have the PDF file they emailed her once the visa was approved <- that IS the visa, so she needs that

There shouldn't be any DTV sticker in her passport visa though

She won't need anything other than the visa & passport.

The fee that Alex is mentioning is so people can get out/back the same day on free stamp entries. I do not believe there is any fee for valid visa holders to bounce at that border

I went to the border last year with a multi entry tourist visa and they still made me pay the 2000 for 60 days. I said I thought I didn't have to pay cause I have a visa and they said if I don't want to pay I will have to stay in Malaysia for 3 days. That was my experience when I went there last time, maybe it's not the same for everyone

thanx for that, appreciate the information. Yep that is the "bounce out/back same day fee" and they charge that at a LOT of borders OR you stay in the border country xxx days

again thanx for that (y)

i did not do full bounce, but had motorbike trip to Malaysia land boarder, then from Langkawi (MY) boat to Ko Lipe (TH) (just asked VISA pdf as they did not see in the system), then went back to Langakawi and motorbike back again TH via lang boarder and there as well was fast, only PDF + passport. Sure it is free.

I made a smaller laminated visa pdf version which fits into passport. They were not thrilled, but accepted as all info were there just smaller and in 2 sides :) I do travel too much in and out...

Btw they do see the previous DTV arrival reasons' stamps...

No idea why their boarder controll system does not automatically flag which passport has what (active) VISA. Although they knew about all my other country passports..

it is your responsibility to have the PDF they emailed you (which IS your visa) printed out.

They are under no obligation to stamp you in on a visa you don't present when entering the country.

It's that VISA that lets you get a 180 day stamp

sure although did not stated what format and size we need to provide to them that.

But important that not allow to brake that visa validity, so I have to provide it every time even when going in for 3 weeks.

yep you will carry that paper for the next 5 years the DTV is good for πŸ˜›

strange they didn't like the reduced laminated one you had printed out.

just print an A4 size one, fold it up and put it in your passport so you have it

In a perfect world no she shouldn't have any issues or need to supply updated documents.
