Hi guys

I’m applying for evisa, so I have to book flights first yeah? My main question, I’m staying 50 nights, if I book hotel for say a week just to show booking confirmation will this do? I’ll be actually staying with my fiancé in Bangkok but problem is she’ll need to write a letter for me and too much hassle and she’s currently here in UK with me, I wanted to get the ball rolling so my question is will a refundable hotel booking be ok just in order to get through this visa? I don’t plan on going until mid December and i understand you have 90 days from the point of the visa been accepted which is useful, I’m naturally anxious so want to start the visa asap, appreciate any help on this, I understand I’ll have to book flights first but surely you don’t need to also show every single hotel booking as I say I’ll bd staying in my fiancés condo but we will be visiting 3/4 islands during my 7 week stay, thanks
Answer summary
A user is seeking advice on applying for a Thai eVisa, specifically whether a refundable hotel booking for a week is sufficient to meet visa application requirements, despite actually planning to stay with their fiancé in Thailand. The discussion reveals that many users suggest a refundable hotel booking is acceptable, and creating an invitation letter from the fiancé, although simpler, seems too much hassle for the original poster. Various experiences are shared, indicating that a short hotel booking often suffices for the visa application.

Did one from Australia in May. Found a suitable one way flight online and quoted number, did not book. Booked accommodation for one week through booking dot com. I could have easily cancelled accommodation but used it. I now live in Thailand on a non O retirement visa. No real problems Go to Woe

Craig Smith strange they didn’t even check you had an actual flight! How did they accept the flight if you didn’t book?

I don't see how you can confirm a flight with a pending visa. Intent seemed to be enough and besides that I doubt they have the time and resources to check individual flight manifests. Thai immigration have plenty of pull in Thailand but do they have the authority to check international airline passenger lists and bookings? I have no idea but without cause I would doubt it. This is only my take on things wether it be right or wrong.

Lee Rothery the online application only asked for flight number. Also asked for return flight and I noted that it was pending.. Upon entry I was asked how long I intended to stay. I told the officer I had no intention of over staying but exactly how long I had no idea. He stamped my passport and off I went.

Craig Smith Hi, I was under the impression you had to submit a confirmed booking?

I had Chatgtp make the letter for me. Had my wife sign it and sent it back to me. Takes all of 2 minutes to have Chatgtp make the letter and you can have her sign it.

A refundable hotel booking should be ok too. I doubt you need to book for the entire time, although an invitation may be simpler and more practical. Assuming your fiancee is the main householder (owner), the invotation is rightfully valid. If her copy of house registry is not with her, she could apply for an online copy through a mobile application called ThaiID. ✌️✌️

Lynn Bhongsiri hi year she’s got all that it’s just me being inpatient I guess as hotel booking would take me 10 secs

An invitation letter is too much hassle? That’s done in 5-10 minutes. You think that’s a problem. A 60 day tourist visa application is so easy. Just apply the documents they ask for and done

Peter Slaman not necessarily but a hotel booking which I can cancel will take me 10 seconds as opposed to waiting for her to sort it

Lee Rothery do the hotel route mate. I do it everytime. I use booking .com and book a “pay at hotel” room for a few days, wait for the confirmation to come through and the cancel

A letter of invitation isn't complex. Probably less hassle than booking a hotel
