Visa questions /advice...

Hi guys, quick question... My 1st Ed visa expires on 5th Jan. I won't be getting another one and have applied for the elite. But that will not be through before 5th Jan. So... I will need to leave the country for a few days and come back on a 90 day tourist visa if I go to the embassy in KL or phnom Penh wherever...

Have you heard about any problems leaving from bkk, an agency said they might not let me leave... And if they do, you think I'll be OK coming back? Hope this makes sense...

Your advice on best thing to do?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is concerned about their educational visa expiring on January 5th before receiving their Elite Visa. They are considering leaving Thailand for a few days to apply for a 90-day tourist visa but have received advice about needing to cancel their education extension before leaving the country. Comments suggest that it's important to get documentation from their school and confirm the cancellation with immigration to avoid issues at departure.

Maybe removing the "where angels play Pattaya Soi 6" profile pic wouldn't be a bad idea also

Also keep in mind a 90 day tourist visa is only VALID for 90 days from the date you get it <- meaning you have that long to ENTER thailand when you will get stamped in for 60 days like everyone on a tourist visa does.

Meet the requirements posted on the website of the thai consulate you're going to for the tourist visa and you should get it. Don't meet the requirements and you won't get it for sure :O

You need to take paperwork from your school that states you are stopping studying on xxx date and go to the immigration office where you got your extension. They will cancel your extension and stamp you in until the date on that paper (it can't be any longer than your extension is valid for).

THEN you can leave the country to go get a tourist visa..

okay, first off IF you are on an extension of stay based on education from the immigration office you need to go cancel it BEFORE you try to stamp out of the country.

Just leaving does not cancel an extension officially
