TLDR : Answer Summary
If you're outside Thailand when your 90-day reporting is due, there is no need to report. You only need to file a report if you are physically in the country for 90 consecutive days. Your reporting period resets when you re-enter Thailand, with your next report due 89 days after your arrival.

and it would appear we've beaten this topic to death ๐Ÿ™‚

One final time, you DO NOT need to go to the immigration office right after you get back UNLESS you're filing a new TM30 (notification of foreigner in residence)

Your NEXT 90 day report once you stamp back into thailand is due 89 days from the date you stamp in

Well if you are not in house, no report. Until you return then I think 90 days start again.

If you are out of the country there is no need to do a 90 day report, it is only needed when you spend 90 consecutive days in Thailand. Your 90 day clock will reset when you enter Thailand again.

The reporting stop when leaving, and start new when you back.

you've got your wires crossed on how 90 day reporting works ๐Ÿ˜•

IF you are in the country 90 continuous days you are obligated to report.

IF you leave the country before that date you do not report

and

when you stamp back in to thailand your next 90 day report is due 89 days from the date you stamp in

my immigration told me to show up when I come back, so they can give me a new 90 days report slip

I am doubtful that's what they told you.

I think they wanted you to show up when you come back into the country so you could file a new TM30 (notification of foreigner in residence)

Your 90 day report is due 89 days from the date you stamp in, you don't go to the immigration office to file a 90 day report until then ๐Ÿ™‚
