Do I need a DTV visa or METV for multiple trips to Thailand each year?

I plan to have four trips per year to Thailand each year for around five weeks.

I am a condo owner.

Would you expect me to have any issues entering the country.

Or would it be wise to get a DTV at this time.

A concern I have is the 90 day reporting as I may be out of country at times for up the 120 days and would that cause an issue.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster is considering traveling to Thailand four times a year for about five weeks each trip and is concerned about visa requirements and the 90-day reporting rule. Community responses suggest that as long as they return to their home country between trips, they should not face issues. The advice leans towards obtaining a DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) or an METV (Multi-Entry Tourist Visa) to accommodate their travel pattern, with emphasis on not needing to report every 90 days since the trips are broken up. Additionally, owning a condo may provide some stability in their application.

Because you are returning back to your home country each time it shouldn’t be a problem, but you can make sure that it won’t be an issue simply by securing a three entry tourist visa that allows for three entries and extensions.

I travel for holiday and to meet friends every two months from Australia for a week.

Most recent visit last week. No issues.

Return ticket to home country. Hotel stays.

Genuine tourists will have no issues in my opinion and experience.

You only report if you’re here consecutively for 90 days.

Unless you are a digital nomad or wish to sign up to an expensive soft power course, that you probably will not attend, then a DTV is not really right for you. You could get an METV (multi entry tourist visa) because that is what you are. A tourist who enters multi times. The visa lasts for 6 months from date of issue (not the first time you enter). Each entry gives you 60 days which can be extended by 30 days at immigration for 1900 baht. If you enter just before the visa expires you get another 60 days which can also be extended so you can get nearly 9 months from this visa. If you want to enter again after the visa has expired then you can enter visa-exempt, and this will not be a problem as it will be your first visa-exempt entry in that calendar year. You could also do it the other way around and do two visa-exempt entries and then get an METV.

I do work remotely and am employed by a UK registered company so can provide proof. DTV for 5 years seems less hassle.

Most definitely if you qualify. If you apply in the UK you only need the 500k in your account for 1 month but you supply 3 months statements which must show your income. I changed from a marriage extension to DTV. I have almost zero dealings with immigration now

Definitely get a visa,

If you will be coming 4 times a year for 5 weeks a time the best is DTV.

Thats literally what it was designed for people to come and go as they please

Or get the elite visa

Education isn’t really a good idea because that’s for people who wanna live here without leaving

WHO cares about 90 days report when leaving

According to the new rules if your returning to your home country for a period of time amd not just doing the border runs should be ok. What siam legal are telling me

@Marcus ******
Rules also tell no more than 2 visa exempt entries a year without a good explanation.

What is a good explanation might be completely up to the IO

but that's if you doing the border runs what I'm told

nobody knows exactly at which border they have which guidelines interpretation.

Some elements are mentioned often, like maximum 2 visa exempt, one can be extended with 30 days, the second cannot, you only get 7 days.

Also mentioned is 150 days maximum.

Fact is, they try to get back visa exempt for what it was, short touristic and business visits, and everything that is more than that can be a risk, just because it is up to interpretation.

90 day reporting is only if you are in the country for 90 consecutive days. It finishes when you leave and resets when you leave. If you stay under 90 days per time then youll never need to do it. Dtv visa holders that stay the max 180 days per time will only do 1 each time anyway.

Do you return to your country each time and for how long ?
