Can I still be a Thai citizen if I was born in Thailand and have an expired Thai passport but hold a German passport?

Hi guys...i was born in Bangkok and i have my original birth certificate in thai+ old passport (expired in 15/2/1983)....in 1978 i moved to germany and my stepfather (my mom is thai) adopted me, so i‘m a german passport holder...my father told me that we have used my thai passport for traveling until we let it expire, then changed to german passport....can it be that i‘m still a thai citizen?
