Just got my Non-O Visa here, very excited, cannot wait to start a new life and visit the new Central Park Mall in Bangkok. My goal is to extend / replace my Non-O to a year-long stay as many times as possible. I need a comprehensive view on how I may achieve my goal starting from taking the flight to Thailand, including how often & where I should report my stay to the Thai immigration officeใ€how man I find a 1-bedroom condo within a week after my arrivalใ€how to open a Thai bank account........and so on.

Many in this group had provided me very valuable advice to help me take the very first step, even though I don't know you, Thank You ! And Thank You for more useful advice to this post.

~ Ps. I'm not as old as the figures shown in the picture, am still a young & desirable chick, just slightly over 50. ๐Ÿ˜…

1. Arrive in Thailand and ensure the Immigration officer stamps you in with your non-O.

2. Get a long term lease.

3. Go to immigration and get a residence certificate and list of requirements to extend your stay.

4. Open a bank account (this is the difficult part but should be possible with your non-O and long term lease) and transfer 800,000 baht into it within the first 2 or 3 week after arrival.

5. After your money has been in your bank account for 2 months (and before your existing visa expires), take all the documents to immigration and apply to extend your stay.

My tip would be to buy a document folder and take several copies of everything (you will need them constantly in Thailand, so it saves time in the future). Keep a copy of your extension application as well as it will probably be more or less the same next year.

everything is correct, except the part that "before the visa expires". The 90-days Non-Imm-O Visa already expires and becomes used and invalid when you enter Thailand! What you meant is "before the 90-days stay permit expires"

you most probably won't be able to do 6 consecutive months out of two visa-exempt entries and their 30 days extension. While it depends on the Immigration officer, it also depends on your stamp history of a recent 365-days period. If you did a touristic entry somewhere along that period, it will be counted against your plan

30days extension at immigration office before current stamp expire....there after border run...new entry 60days exempt +30days extension at immigration office it will cover u for 6mths.....doing this often might have the risk of being pull aside by immigration officer when entering

Priority get a lease agreement (6mths/1yr)....try open bank acct with only passport (nonO) and lease agreement (kbank/SCB) go as many branch as possible.....if still fails visit immigration get residency cert and handouts for 1yr extension requirements........proceed to open bank acct......transfer 800k to thai bank acct by Swift/Wise (must completed within 30days of arrival....run down nonO till 30days left and proceed to apply 1yr extension (make sure 800k already stay 2mths in acct)

. Learn the visa related terminology to create clear understanding and realize your obligations. Job one for you is to get a Thai bank account you'll first need to go to immigration and get a residence certificate.

A gay boy here from Michigan, just slightly over 50. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Sorry for the confusion, I was using a picture online of Non-O with a retired couple in the photo. My post was declined because the photo looked like a commercial. I changed the picture but forgot to change my content accordingly....๐Ÿ˜…

Thank you for posting that photo... You must have spent ages looking through my photos, I had long since forgotten it, as it was taken some 15 years ago on our way to The Rocky Horror Picture Show in Bournemouth. Well done you!
