What should expats know about updating their banking apps in Thailand, particularly with Kasikorn and Bangkok Bank?
Heads up on Kasikorn app
Arrived in Thailand boxing day my app needed updating .
Update the app went through the process name dob etc.
Then after all personal details it said i needed to go to bank
For photo recognition.
Off i went got my ticket for the teller to be fair waiting was 20 mins.
The photo recognition was not straight forward pic.
Facial, side face left & right, face upwards, downwards,
Eye blink.
Anyway got it sorted.
Talking to folk Bangkok bank are also updating their app doing facial recognition.
Finally if you got a new sim like I did then both banks need to be aware.
Keep tabs of your old number because the bank will ask you.
Don't forget your passport as well

Facial recognition often fails with several attempts needed. If you change your phone bjt keep same sim you need to visit the branch, Krungthai anyway. If you change your passport up date with phone company and the bank.

I went through the same thing last year. When you arrived last week what status did you have? Did you re enter on a retirement extension or some other long term visa?

I had to do the facial recognition recently at Kasikorn, account not frozen just app disabled. They did not ask about visa status but had my passport with my 90 day Non-O entry stamp. This was a branch in Sa Kaeo province not my branch in Pattaya where the account was opened about 20 years ago while on a visa exempt 30 day stamp.

pain in the back side. I tried to pay a bill yesterday that required facial recognition, failed to recognise me. Had to get my insurance agent to split the bill in two, came to the same amount but both under the limit requiring facial scans so did 2 payments 1 minute apart which worked fine. What's the point in having a higher payment limit on the account? I guess I'll have to remember to ask them for a new scan set next time I go to the bank, mine hasn't been updated for a few years, I use Bangkok Bank but nothing frozen.Graham *****

LOL exactly what happened to me took my glasses off had to ask the tillerTo help me which she did

I had trouble doing it because with my glasses off I could not read the on screen instructions, just failed multiple times standing like a statue. 555 A bank employee who knew the sequence of look left, right, up, down etc. gave me instructions then success.Graham *****
