Hi, This is my 1st year in Thailand and I'm trying to learn the rules and terminology say please bear with me.

I also know that everything is "up-in-the-air" right now but under NORMAL conditions (OK?).

I am a USA passport holder. I got a Non-O "retirement" visa while here in BKK (NOT a Non O-A receive in the USA). My Extension of Stay is valid until 1 Jul 2021.

I have to go back to the States in Oct 2020, I know currently I am not in 1 of the groups to re-enter (Question 1) Am I correct on that?

I believe I can get a Re-entry permit either at the BKK airport as I leave or can get 1 a few days before at an immigration office. (Question 2) IN YOUR Experienced Opinion, Where would you recommend I apply for this?

If (The big assumption IF!!!) that changes and hypothetically I am allowed to come back, let's say 1 May 2021, Upon my arrival back at BKK I will receive an Extension of Stay for 1 year so 1 May 2022. (Question 3) Am I correct on that?

Lastly, (Question 4) Do I need any paperwork for the IO at BKK airport Entry Control to to enter and/or receive a visa or Extension of Stay?

I know from my reads here that ya'll don't like to make assumptions but I am a Long-Term Planner by nature and my past military training so Please Bear with me.

Thanks for your Public Service, I believe I am learning.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, a US passport holder with a Non-O retirement visa valid until July 1, 2021, asks multiple questions regarding re-entry to Thailand amid current travel restrictions. They inquire about their eligibility to return, the best place to obtain a re-entry permit, the duration of their stay upon return, and any required documentation at the immigration entry point. Responses confirm the inability to return currently, the options for obtaining a re-entry permit at the airport or immigration office, the assurance of maintaining the same stay duration upon return, and a note that normally no extra documents are required aside from the passport.
