What Options Does My Son Have for Extending His Thai Visa as a Parent?

My son (UK 35) has an 'O' sticker (exp June) for reason of a Thai child (เยี่ยมบุตร) from a woman (not married or living together, but in a friendly relationship).

He has been getting extensions of stay (3 months plus extensions from Vietnam). He doesn't have the 400K in the bank.

In this situation, what are his options?

Will the immigration grant him a 60 day extension?

Apologies if this has been covered before.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired about visa extension options for their son who currently holds an 'O' visa due to having a Thai child. They mentioned the son's visa is set to expire in June and expressed concern about not meeting the financial requirement of 400,000 THB in the bank. A comment suggested that the best course of action is to visit the immigration office with the child, the birth certificate, and relevant documentation from the mother to apply for a 60-day extension.

he needs to go to the immigration office in his area with the child, the birth certificate, the mother, her house book listing and her thai i/d and apply for the 60 day visit thai family extension.

IF they grant it they will date it from the 27th of Sept so it will be good until the end of Nov.

The mother and child live in BKK.

He spends part of the week looking after the child in BKK, and some time with me in Sattahip.

When he applies for monthly extension, he does so in Pattaya.

Would you advise to go to BKK (Chaengwattana?), or Pattaya, or is it optional.

Thanks, mate...

He applies at the immigration office that serves the area where he lives.
