Hi all, tried searching but couldn't find the answer. A friend from the UK is over on a Non O visa to see his daughter (Not married but still friends with the mother). He is stamped in until March the 5th but he is wondering what is the best way for him to extend for a month or 2. We will head to immigration on Tuesday but would be better to be prepared before going. Thanks in advance y'all.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A friend on a Non O visa wants to extend his stay in Thailand to visit his daughter. He has until March 5th but needs options for a possible extension for one or two months. There are two main extension options available: a 60-day family visit extension and a 60-day COVID-19 related extension, both costing 1900 baht. The family extension can be issued on the spot if he provides the child's birth certificate and possibly the mother, while the COVID-19 extension may require a follow-up visit.

Wow, super fast. Thanks for that. Family extension makes sense then.

No...do the COVID 60 days extension FIRST...

thereby saving the family visit extension option to be used later if needed.

You only get one family visit per entry into Thailand

Fountain of knowledge. Thanking you kindly.

He has two options for 60 day extensions.

He can get a 60 day visit thai family extension OR he can apply for a 60 day unable to travel due to covid extension.

They cost the same 1900baht.

The 60 day visit family extension will be issued on the spot (take the child, the birth certificate, the house book listing & the mother if possible)

If he applies for the 60 day covid extension he will most likely get an under consideration stamp and then go back on that date to get the extension inked in.

I have often read about this "under consideration" stamp, what's the meaning of it?

@Béat****
it's exactly what it's called. Your application for extension goes "under consideration" until the date they stamp in your passport

many offices give an under consideration stamp when you apply for a 60 day covid stamp. Then you go back on that date and get the extension inked in.
