Hi guys, I'm currently in Chiang Mai and my STV visa is on it's last extension. I am aware that this visa is unable to be changed into any other type of visa while in the country. I was hoping others in this group who are on this visa could shed some light on this, are we still able to get the emergency 60 day extension as per the emergency decree once my visa expires? Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the possibility of obtaining a 60-day extension for their STV visa in Thailand, as they are unable to travel due to COVID-19. Community responses indicate skepticism about this option, with one user stating they have not seen anyone successfully obtain such an extension on an STV visa. The consensus suggests that if an extension is possible, substantial proof of travel restrictions would be required, and actions should be taken close to the visa's expiration date.

I'm going to shut down commenting. The person is from Australia, and the permitted to stay is in November. November is two months away. If a person wants to try applying for a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19 from an STV, do it close to the expiration date as possible.

I see no reason to keep commenting open. Any information you'll get will be outdated in late October/ Early November and will not be actionable.

UNLESS I'm mistaken, a quick look through your profile shows that you're British. Unless you're willing to correct me, I can 100% promise you that you WILL NOT get a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19.

Hi Benjamin, thanks for your reply and actually I'm asking for my Australian friend who is also on the Visa, his "permitted to stay" stamp is early November.
Bobby ********
What is your "permitted to stay" date on your last stamp?

I will say "NO".

I have not seen anyone who have gotten a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19 on an STV. *IF* there is a way, I expect there needs to be a lot of paperwork submitted to prove you absolutely can not return to your home country (like embassy letters, cancelled and rebooked airline tickets done by the airline company, etc).

AGAIN, I HAVE NOT SEEN ANYONE WHO MANAGED TO GET THE COVID-19 EXTENSION ON THE STV!

(I'm leaving commenting open in case there's anyone who was successful in getting that extension of stay. If there is, please show proof that you got it, and include your nationality).
