Hello together,

has anybody managed to extend their Special Tourist Visa (STV) after the last regular extension of 90 days?

Immigration Office on Koh Phangan told me that it is not possible to get a covid-extension. They also stated that it is not possible to transfer to an education visa or similar.

Is there any way to stay in Thailand with a STV after 270 days?

Thanks in advance!

Leon

Answer summary

The questioner seeks advice on extending their Special Tourist Visa (STV) in Thailand beyond the 270-day limit. The immigration office in Koh Phangan has indicated that a COVID-19 extension is not possible, and transferring to an education visa is also not an option. Comments highlight that policies can vary by location, with one user noting that an optional extension based on COVID-19 travel restrictions is available, but it's discretionary and may not be granted.

As I said in a recent post...

Important reminder: different immigration offices have different policies. This post is about Bangkok Immigration. Information about Kanchanaburi (for example) isn’t helpful.

The only way to stay longer is with an Extension of Stay based on Unable to Travel due to COVID-19. This is an optional extension of stay, and the immigration office does not need to grant it.
