TLDR : Answer Summary
The inquiry is about a German resident father's intention to visit his two Thai-resident children in Samui, Thailand, and whether he can enter the country, along with the necessary documents for a visa. There are discussions about age eligibility of dependents, the necessity of birth certificates, the current visa restrictions, and the recommended direct contact with the Thai embassy for accurate information.

I sent a email to the Thai embassy in Berlin.

They are only issuing visas to certain groups of people at the present time.

Definitely not issuing visas for tourists

as I said, certain groups. Which means also people with families or medical or education etc.

It is simple. Get in touch with the Thai embassy in Berlin. Ask.

It’s the quickest way to find out the facts.

Asking here is basically wasting time.

He will need to prove he is the parent, which will mean birth certificates showing he is the father. That is definite

If the kids are over 18 years old, he's going to have a problem getting a certificate of entry based on dependents, as they are no longer classes as dependents if they are over 18. It is up to the Thai embassy if he can get a family visit visa

@Kool ******
they are small 1,5 abs 5 years

I could be the mother not the sister 😂😂😂

@Julia-Ekaterina *******
, then with a copy of their birth certificate, with him listed as the father, he should have no problem, other than the 14 day quarantine requirement that can seriously affect his stay, and time with the kids.

@Kool ******
the 14 days quarantine is ok for him

He will stay then for 6 months

So 14 days he can spend in a hotel in Bangkok

Highly unlikely because it's not only what the Thai authorities decide, as for Germans it's not allowed to leave EU /Schengen without real necessity. Visiting family is no valid reason....
Brian *****
@Jan ********
Incorrect.. anyone can leave the Schengen area.

There are travel warnings to Risk areas advising people not travel unless necessary..

They do not say you cannot travel out of the Schengen area. That remains the decision of each individual. That includes Germany

Join one of the foreigner stranded abroad during the thai lock down f/b groups

IF I was to guess I'd say he MIGHT be able to request permission to enter.

The first place to check is the thai consulate in the country he's in
James ******
Might be more sensible to ask at the embassy, rather than asking people on Facebook you dont know, who have no more knowledge than you do

@James *****
also false info.

The UK Embassy is also extremely unhelpful. Here (UK) they advise to phone them after 2.30pm. But that was before the pandemic. Good luck with getting a visa JE.
Barry *******
@Terry *******
in my experience the UK Embassy were only dealing directly with the people that have qualified for repatriation flights for the particular month. The don’t have the man power. Very frustrating situation.

I sent them 4 emails and tried to call

Maybe I should involve an agency with direct contacts

@Bobby *******
I live in Spain

I have a flight 16th December it’s not yet cancelled but maybe they will
Kool *******
@Julia-Ekaterina *******
, you will need to meet all the current covid-19 related requirements to enter Thailand, as it stands now, even in December, and that includes 14 days in quarantine, at your expense. If you do not have a certificate of entry from the Thai embassy they will not let you on the plane. That could change by December, but that is how it is now, and tourists are not being given a certificate of entry.

. The screenshot is from the UK Thai embassy website, but the entry conditions will be identical from any country
Barry *******
@Bobby *******
not quite so true. The entry procedure differs between consulates. I spent 4 months trying to get back. He should go by the regulations of the consulate in his country.
