TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is seeking help with the process of transitioning from a tourist visa (TR) to a marriage visa in Thailand and is inquiring about the Australian Embassy's services in Bangkok and Phuket. Community members provided insights about the embassy's operations during COVID-19, difficulties in obtaining marriage registrations in red zones, and recommended contacting specific experts for guidance. Some mentioned the embassy's limited accessibility, particularly in Phuket, citing their own experiences to highlight the challenges faced.
Good question this. My guess is no offices like this for any country would be open because Bangkok is a dark red zone but at the same time surely there is a skeleton staff working at embassies incase of major issues. What do you guys think?
I want to do exactly the same but using the UK embassy.
hi, im becoming increasingly concerned about our plan, my fiance is in Songkhla, they have just gone into a Redzone rating. The phuket Consulate answered the phone yesterday , my fiance called, frustratingly, our questions we not answered. Do you have a plan b?
well well there's another one π not often you see your own name crop up, and it's not you giving advice...in a group..in my 53 yrs your the second ..β
Yes nobody really knows what is happening, scenarios can change. Phuket is an Island and could end up isolated. Bangkok is capital and transportation will still need to happen to all parts of Thailand.
Consulates tend to be a non paying position and in Phuket are more to assist people who have accidents or end up in Jail (my friends the British Consulate) so they probably dont have experience/permission in dealing with your request, best to stick to the embassy in Bangkok They have a facebook page also lots of people have had more success contacting there embassies this way.
thankyou. My Thai fiance called the Consulate yesterday unfortunately our questions went unanswered. We will try again. My concern is that my exemption has been granted to leave Australia for 12 plus weeks, and my understanding that I can only enter on a maximum of 60 days and extend once for 30? Is that correct? Compounding the issues is Songkhla has just gone Redzone, my fiance is a Dr. Is unable to leave the hospital for any reasonable length of time. So I'm concerned about which 8s my best option, to fly into bkk or hkt? Any thoughts would be gratefully received.
