Hi I’m currently in Pattani where I live now. On a EofS Married which expires February 2022

My question is I’m planning on travelling to the UK my home country UK passport soon. For about 6 weeks. I’ve never needed to have any yearly health insurance for my EofS before. I’ve had travel insurance whenever I’ve travelled but nothing else. Someone has said on my return to Thailand I will need to show insurance that covers me for Covid-19. And sent me a link from the Thai Embassy UK.

I’m confused actually what type of insurance I will need to show if any. for the re entry when I return. As I’ll have a re-entry permit stamped in my passport for my current EofS marriage to be signed back in with. Has anybody done this and knows what is what. TYIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, currently residing in Pattani on a Marriage Extension of Stay (EofS), plans to travel to the UK and is concerned about the re-entry requirements for Thailand, particularly regarding COVID-19 insurance. They have not required yearly health insurance before but have been informed they need COVID-19 coverage upon returning. Comments clarify that to re-enter Thailand, they will need a Certificate of Entry (COE) and health insurance specifically covering COVID-19 with coverage of $100,000 USD until the end of their visa. A re-entry permit is also necessary for their return.

ENTERING THAILAND is a two step process:

a. Get a visa. This means to submit the documents required to get permission to STAY in Thailand.

b. Get a Certificate of Entry. This gives a person permission to ENTER Thailand. To get a Certificate of Entry, you will need:

- A valid visa OR re-entry permit

- Health insurance for the amount of $100K USD for inpatient COVID-19 ONLY! The validity of your insurance policy MUST BE up to the end of your visa or Extension of Stay.

You *DO NOT* need a visa to enter Thailand. You *WILL NEED* to get a re-entry permit. A single entry re-entry permit is 1,000 THB, and can be purchased at any immigration office. I highly recommend purchasing one tomorrow (if you have time). The re-entry permit can be used ONCE, and is as valid for the length of the extension of stay.

You *DO NOT* need general health insurance to enter Thailand, because you are NOT entering on a Non-OA or Non-OX visa.

@Benjamin *****
can you explain why my comment to my devious post/Question has been removed. It was just a follow on.

@Martin *******
I removed the comment because I don't think this group would give you the best answer. You're asking about the Certificate of Entry, and specific information on how to go from the UK to Thailand. The Facebook group I referred you to should be able to give you much better information then this group. I sent you a message

strange but ok I’ll try the other group. I don’t understand your thinking around your explanation really. I was just putting out there also as a helpful topic to maybe talk about and gather information.

this group is very specific about the topic we cover and that's VISAS to thailand,

Not, "what hoops do I go thru to get in to the country".

There are groups that specialize in that only and it might be a better place for you to ask your question

You're right, I removed it. The reason why I removed it because it says "For long-stay retirement visa holders (Non-immigration O/O-A-Ox) for people over 50 years old"

The non-O visas are "other"s. One reason why a person could get a Non-O visa is for being over 50 (but I haven't seen a Non-O visa based on being over 50 issued in a long time). The Non-O based on being over 50 REQUIRES insurance.

I believe the OP originally has a Non-O based on marriage to a Thai national. A Non-O based on marriage to a Thai national does NOT require health insurance.

Benjamin Hays thanks and yes that’s correct I’m on a EofS marriage and have never had to produce insurance before and I’ve done this EofS since 2017 and been in and out of the country never had to produce insurance at any point. For renewal of EofS or when coming back through immigration at the airport. But understand that you’ll need Covid insurance
