Do we need to purchase extended COVID insurance for returning to Thailand after our trip to Australia on an OA visa?

Hi. My husband and I will be flying to Australia on Saturday and staying for 3 weeks. We have the required insurance for our OA visa but it doesn’t cover the now 50,000 USD covid cover needed to return to Thailand. Do we have to get insurance to cover until the end of our visa (June 2022) or can we just get it for say 30 days.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about the insurance requirements for returning to Thailand after a trip to Australia. They currently have insurance for their OA visa, but it does not meet the new requirement of $50,000 coverage for COVID. Responses indicate that their existing insurance might suffice, depending on its coverage for COVID-related medical expenses, and suggest consulting with their insurer for a certificate or specific coverage details.

Update. Our insurance we have for our visas does not cover the $50,000 USD it just falls short so we have to buy another one to cover up to the end of our visa

Your Non-OA insurance should be okay for registering and entering Thai Pass.

The $100,000 insurance you now have for the O-A visa should be greater than the $50,000 insurance now required to enter Thailand.

Ask your insurer for a Certificate of Insurance.

And print out your current policy effective dates showing the specific amount of insurance coverage and that the policy includes coverage for COVID medical expenses.
