Do I need to reapply for my Non O retirement visa every year or can I simply renew it?

Hello All, I have a Non O - retirement based visa for 1 year that will expire January 2025, after that do I have to re apply and go trough the whole application process again or is it just a simpler "renew"? I have to leave on Apr 12 so I won't be doing the 90 day report due on Apr 19 as shown in the picture, but my question is actually about the 1 year validity of the Non O visa

Thank you .

TLDR : Answer Summary
The Non O - retirement based visa does not have a straightforward renewal process. Each year, you need to submit a new application for a 1-year extension, following the same procedure as your initial application. Therefore, it is not a simple 'renew'; it's treated as a new application. Additionally, if you plan to leave Thailand, make sure to obtain a re-entry permit to avoid losing your extension.

Remember to get a re-entry permit before you leave on April 12th otherwise you will lose your one year extension and will only be given a visa exempt 30 day stamp when you arrive back in Thailand.

I always get a re-entry the same time as I get my 1 year extension even if I have no intention of leaving at the time. For a 1000baht it saves a lot of hassle even if don’t use it.

There is no renew. Every year is a new application

You first applied for an initial in-country visa in November 2023. Then you applied for a 1-year extension in January 2024. You will do the same procedure for a 1-year extension that you did in January at the end of the current extension. This is not a "re-new". You apply for a whole new 1-year extension every time.

By the way, your 1-year extension should be until 17 February 2025 unless your passport expires in January 2025.

you have your new 90-day report due 89 days after you enter Thailand again.
