Hello everyone!

I was supposed to get an ED visa but I had a one day overstay before getting my tourist visa extension.

The lady from the immigration told me that I can get a tourist or transit visa and reapply again.

Can anyone tell me the process of getting a transit visa?

Is it possible to get it from a Thai consulate or just at the border?

And can a TR visa on arrival be converted to an ED visa?

Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about obtaining a transit visa after experiencing a one-day overstay prior to applying for a tourist visa extension. Comments suggest applying for a single-entry ED visa from a neighboring country, as the process for transit and tourist visas is typically similar and they cannot be obtained at the border. It's also noted that a TR visa on arrival cannot be easily converted to an ED visa, and guidance from the user's school is recommended to clarify the necessary steps.

If your nationality is eligible for 30 days visa-exempt, there is no point for you to apply for a transit visa. A transit visa allows you to stay for 30 days, which is the same number of days as a visa-exempt entry.

The transit visa application process is the same as the Tourist visa application process. You need to go to the Thai embassy/consulate in a nearby country to apply for a visa in person there. You cannot get a transit visa or tourist visa at the border/airport.

You can apply for a Non-ED visa on entry stamp on visa-exempt (30 days), a tourist visa (60 days), or a transit visa (30 days).

Or also can apply for Non-ED at the embassy/consulate if your school would prepare the documents for that.

BUT

You NEED to talk with your school for details because you usually need to do the whole process again when your entry stamp has been changed. You need to check how long you need to decide what stamp you want to enter Thailand on.

Tourist visa from a neighbouring country or border bounce for visa exempt if that gives enough time

Best off to apply for your single entry Ed visa in a nearby country with the paperwork provided by your educator

You are not getting a transit visa, firstly
