What is the process for exiting Thailand with both a new and an old passport after a DTV visa renewal?

Asking for advice.

I just renewed my passport inside Thailand and I'll have to do my 6 month DTV visa run around January. I read on this group that whenever I enter the country, I'll need to show both new and old passport because my DTV visa is stamped in the old one. But what is the process at the departure immigration like? If anyone has experience, please let me know.

Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
When departing Thailand with a new passport after renewing your old one that has a DTV visa, it's essential to show both passports to immigration. Upon arrival at the departure immigration, you will be taken to a separate booth where staff will check your documents, often writing relevant details in the new passport regarding your entry stamp from the old passport. If your new passport is an e-passport, it will be used for the electronic exit process, while the old passport serves as a reference for your entry stamp. The process is usually quick, often taking only a few minutes.

Get there a little early, they'll take you to another little booth, do some stuff on their computer, write something in the new passport, and i think the old two, and then you're good to go.

Last time I transferred a visa to a new passport on exit I had to go to the border visa office for some extra paperwork and stamps actually moving the visa to the new PP.

I flew out of Bangkok last Sunday with two passport. At the passport control the border guard took me to a separate stand where they copied my entry stamp with the DTV from my old passport to the new one, and also put the exit stamp in the new passport. He specifically told me I need to carry both passport when I come back to Thailand. The whole process took like 5 minutes, he didn't ask me any questions and was very nice and polite

If the new passport is an e-passport, which it probably is, you use that to depart using the e-gates. Basically you just carry the old passport for reference but in practice only the new passport will be stamped on entry and used for exit.

show BOTH passports when you stamp out, because your entry stamp is in the old passport, they will stamp you out on the new passport and make a notation that your entry stamp was in the old one
