What are the new requirements for applying for a TR Tourist Visa through Thailand's stickerless E-Visa System?

ORIGINAL POSTER
Just had a peek at the new stickerless E-Visa System ([members only]/). Gave it a trial run for a simple TR Tourist Visa - posing as a French national. Only to discover, that as supporting documents they request 12! uploads - all of them mandatory. Including such things as booking confirmation, proof of financial assets and what not. See enclosed screen shots. For a simple tourist visa? Are they completely mad now? Who went through this website for a TR visa already? If they keep it like this when launching in Germany later this month ... they can forget about tourists. #TIT #whatamess

TLDR : Answer Summary
Many expats express frustration with Thailand's new stickerless E-Visa System, which requires an extensive list of twelve supporting documents for a simple TR Tourist Visa. This includes mandatory proof of booking confirmations, financial assets, insurance details, and other personal information. Users share their challenges and experiences applying for the visa and question the rationale behind such stringent requirements, fearing it could deter tourists from visiting Thailand.

In this case (for French citizens) only 2000 EUR balance on bank account. But that is not the point. The point is they demanding so many things for a simple tourist visa.

Will the electronic visa even only be granted for a specific port of entry on a specific date? No more 3 months general validity? Who knows this?

the visas are good for the normal length of time

single entry tourist visa/Non-Imm visas are good for 90 days

multi-entry tourist visa good for 6 months

multi entry Non-Immigrant visas good for a year

this is an e visa email that shows the Non-O visa was issued for visiting thai family and it's good for entry for 90 days from the date it was issued

it’s deliberately difficult so that agents will have more business pushed their way by people with money who can’t be bothered.

Very normal for Chinese travel agents to offer this service as a package for their groups.

That’s who they want to attract

Not much different then if you were applying for a 6 month tourist visa from the states pre covid. Did it many times.

I understand it may seem absurd to most. Buy these requirements were there for all who wanted an actual visa. It's just that most never needed to get one.

Why is it always they will never get tourists with the processes and requirements they have? Maybe they won't get you as a tourist. 🙏🙏🙏

But they will still get plenty to start bringing money in.

And yet that doesn't seem to have been the case thus far despite its being open for months. These arduous processes are leading many I know to leave Thailand completely - also blaming farang for Covid and not offering them jabs along with everyone else. I am dreading applying for the TV.

you should go check your information.

Any foreigner can go get any multiple types of jabs. Yes they have a short supply but that's being worked out. The Thai people themselves have to take what ever jab is offered or they have to pay for moderna that's not even here yet. But they can't even sign up for all the different things the foriegners can. I actually got fully vaccinated before my wife got her first jab.

Oh and they haven't blamed whitey for covid since it first started.

Thailand has always had arduous processes. Just most never had to deal with them and now they do.

I did it from my coach in an hour, it's actually pretty simple.

Easier than making a stack of xerox copies and mailing them in with your passport and praying the whole package doesn't get lost.

Yes I spent 8hours trying to figure out how to fly direct checked through service to koh samui from the US for under $2000 … which is twice the normal flight price to Thailand …but after 5 hours on hold on my computer for an online live chat with bkk airlines - they do not provide any checked through service so you must exit in bkk and do a 1 day quarantine waiting for pcr test results first- but all the American flight websites like kayak and Expedia are currently selling through tickets with legs going to samui after several hours of layover in bkk.. which you have to exit the terminal and re check your luggage… deeming you “covid tainted” again….obviously illegitimately … also after emailing several asq verified hotels in bkk… none of them offer a one day hotel stay with pcr test yet…. Then I found one advertisement today on this group forum- you can stay one night in a hotel with a pcr test for a minimum of $300 US dollars…making your travel expenses again $2000 just to get in… not including travel insurance…I think it’s currently cheaper to fly to Tahiti ….,,

one PCR test is about $100, plus airport transfer in a specially approved car where the driver will be wearing full PPE and the car will be partitioned with plastic. Then they will also be providing your meals and drinks since you're not allowed to leave the premises. Not sure if they're required to keep a nurse on-site
****
like the AQs, but there's a lot of costs involved even for 1 night

Clearly you are not the "quality tourists" thailand is looking for. 😮

The evisa system is actually an aptitude test and if you can't get thru the process you're not smart enough to be allowed into thailand 😛

Never said is was difficult. Freaking annoying is what it is. Why do they mix up requirements between visa application and certificate of entry? I neither want to have quarantine nor flights and such fully booked at the time of applying for visa only. Nor is it their business what my bank statement looks like for a simple tourist visa. IMHO.

And believe me, the lack of aptitude (and digital literacy) is usually much more present on the Thai side of things. 😉

There's also the question, does it cover non medically necessary hospital quarantine, many people have been caught out with that one with foreign insurance, their insurers won't pay because the mandatory quarantine on a positive test isn't considered medically necessary.

yes-$2000 just to fly into a country for a vacation is a pretty hefty ask…. And if you are a family depending how many .. double triple or quadruple that to get your family /children flight tickets…And it is still currently considered a 3rd world country vacation …

So they really expect you to have confirmed bookings for the entire time you will be in Thailand? How do they want you to prove that you are residing in your home country? A bill or tax document with your name and address on it?

It really is nuts. It is like they have such large egos that they think people are dying to get in so they will go through all of this craziness. Twelve types of documents, many of them probably multiples. And then the presumption that the prospective tourist is a criminal or liar.

Jarkko Takamaa man don't blame me blame the system. If you have a friend living over there. You can use there address for proof of accommodation after ASQ as long as they send you an email of invitation and also they will have to send you there biometric page of there passport. So hopefully you have good friends over there 👍

It's just for tracking and tracing bullshit really. If you book accommodation on Booking.com after ASQ and show the reference number then you good and you can cancel that after your visa is granted. I know it's a load of bollox but what can you do. It actually not that hard once you have all your dates in order really.
