Is it possible to go on a visa exemption to thailand and then change it to a non immigrant based on marriage visa? Me and my partner will only be able to marry if we are together in Thailand.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The question revolves around whether one can initially enter Thailand on a visa exemption and subsequently change it to a non-immigrant marriage visa (Non-O). The answers provided suggest considering a tourist visa instead, as it allows more time for documentation and preparations necessary for the marriage and visa application process. There are suggestions that changing from a visa exemption directly to a Non-O may not be typically accepted by immigration offices.

A friend of mine did it in Nakhon Sawan but it's better to get a tourist visa as it gives you more time to prepare the documents etc. It's was a real push to do it.
