TLDR : Answer Summary
A recent discussion highlighted a new requirement for a guarantor letter during the renewal process for retirement visas in Thailand. This seems to vary by immigration office, with some offices insisting on it while others do not. Many expats shared their experiences, noting that this form is often filled out by a partner or friend, and is generally considered not very critical, with some filling it out as themselves. Overall, this new requirement appears to add some confusion among expats, but it seems manageable as long as the form is filled out.

This has been required for years at CW. I always fill it out with myself as my own "guarantor", and they accept it without reading. It's an utterly meaningless form.

You don't need to worry, fill in the form if you don't have any girlfriend or wife or anyone else to do it

Just give your address and contact details

Little confusing…do you need person from TM30 to verify…or just input data…also…country of residence? Does this mean where you presently are staying?

, I know this one. They asked this 2 times at Korat imm., signed by my (Thai) girlfriend. The last 3 times when I went for my year extension, they gave it back to me. So not sure who has to fill it in for your friend. Maybe they gave it to your friend 'standard' because many of us have a Thai partner.🤷‍♂️

I was asked at CW 3 years ago. No problem my Thai partner filled in for me. Now in Mahasarakham who don’t ask for that particular document. As previously said, just fill in and don’t make a fuss.

That Immigration Office is great. Went there on a Monday only me and one other person in and out in 20 minutes. Brand new building too.

My wife fills out this whenever I do an extension. No big deal, just her confirming where I stay.

Every office gets to make their own requirements. If your office is requiring this then it's unlikely you'll get your extension without it.
