Update DTV South Africa: The short of it is they still do not have any information about the DTV, cost or procedures and asked to follow up mid August.

You cannot go to the Pretoria Embassy in person anyway they won't let you in. I had to speak to an officer over the phone. She said it'll be likely that the DTV application will be done via a courier service. The VFS agent knows nothing about the DTV either.

TLDR : Answer Summary
As of now, there is no detailed information available regarding the DTV visa for South Africa, including costs and procedures. The embassy advises following up in mid-August. It seems the application may need to be processed via courier, as in-person visits to the Pretoria Embassy are not allowed.

That's the generic info posted on all the consulate sites. If you try and follow the instructions from the infographic you'll find that South African passport holders do not qualify for eVisa. The system points you to the embassy. The the embassy points you to a visa agent, and finally the visa agent points you back to the embassy. The embassy is no longer accessible by the public and all visa applications are done through the VFS agent. I physically went there today. I am only reporting on what the officials told me. I also spoke with VFS and they have not heard of the DTV.

Yep, looks like VFS isn't ready yet for South Africa, you can't chose DTV from the menu.

Listen Stephan, these visas became legal on 1st June it was not until mid July they started issuing "some". The requirements are nebulous, and they will change daily and the interpretation will be different embassy by embassy. I have a visa class that been around for decades, and the total requirements change by the day and by immigration office.
