Why is my DTV visa still processing after weeks at the New York Thai Embassy?

Just out of interest , when applying would it be better to put an earlier date than you actually want to fly as you have 90 days to enter Thailand ?

I applied June 20. Flight was Aug 27. Still waiting. Had to change my flight. I don’t know why everyone keeps saying they go by flight date. I’ve been pending approval for 7 weeks now
