Is the DTV application processing time normal if it's still pending after 9 days?

I applied and paid for the DTV application online as a freelancer, from Canada, on September 9. Today on September 18, my application status is still pending document check.

The flight arrival date to Thailand I submitted is October 16, 2025.

Is this timeline normal?

It seems many people in this group are getting progress sooner. Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user applied for a DTV visa as a freelancer from Canada and is concerned about the application being in 'pending document check' status since September 9, 2025, while others report quicker progress. Commenters mention that processing can take up to 25 business days according to the embassy's website, suggesting that the user's application is still within the normal timeline. Others share similar experiences with delays and emphasize the importance of consulting the embassy's resources.

Read the Embassy website thoroughly BEFORE applying, then you would know the average visa processing time.

Do NOT buy flightticket until you have the visa.

As most DTV it is depending on which Embassy you use, how long visa processing takes, and which requirements they have.

You can not use the different “statuses” to predict anything they can change both ways.

You've got a whole month so your application doesn't need priority

Ya I'm waiting as well submitted to Ottawa Sept 8th, (Pending doc check). On Sept 11th it turned to Pending Approval - a week later still pending. Let me know if yours changes, I'll update if I hear anything too. Someone else in the group also Ottawa embassy has been waiting since Sept 4th. I asked Chat GBT and it says that Bangkok signs off on approvals not sure how true that is tho.

Thank you for your input. You submitted yours 1 day earlier than mine though you got your first update within 3 days, and I am still stuck in 'pending document check'. Is your DTV application submitted as a freelancer, too?
Ashley ********
Yes Freelancer, if they need any further info they will change yours to 'Request Document'.

okay, hmm... I wonder what's the hold up on mine being stuck at pending document check for so long. I see others get their documents checked in like 24 hours to 3 days :(

someone else said maybe it's because my flight date of Oct 16 is far enough away to not be prioritized. May I ask roughly what date you set as your flight/arrival date?
DTV_Be*******
According to the website for the embassy in Canada, it can take up to 25 business days. So latest would be Oct 14th, still before you travel

Thanks - do you think I should just wait, or give my embassy (Ottawa) a call to see if they need any additional info?

@Jay ****
- That is up to you, but they usually reach out to you if they need something.
