Also wondering if when visa exempt changes a possible jump in applications might make it a bit longer.

this 15 day theory needs seriously squashing then . It's repeated here and everywhere as if it's true. An Admin post would be good.

where it came from wasn't the question. You said one published in June was effective in May. So thats zero warning.

So anyone coming for longer than 30 days from now on would be advised to get a visa based on that.

I don't know where the 15 day thing came from, if it was from an official government source or just something someone proposed. They might give a 15 day warning, and they might not. I'm just saying over the last 5-6 year they've never given that much notice for any large immigration changes before.

you should've seen how they handled immigration during covid. They kept announcing the next covid extension for people who were unable to travel 1-2 days after the last one already ended.

Ah ok . All I've been hearing is 15 days after publishing. So the last one was backdated making it immediately effective,?

It's double cost as for wife as well with added complication of not knowing if flight will be cancelled yet. So was hanging loose and watching developments. Announcing it without time for people to make other visa arrangements would be unfair.

I wouldn't count on an actual 15 days. They've NEVER given that much notice for any immigration change. As an example, on June 10th a new immigration policy was published in the royal gazette, and it was effective May 28th. This is much more typical of how things happen.

Is it really worth risking to save $40? The visa is valid for 90 days, best to just apply for it if you already know you need the 60 days on arrival.
