Hey everyone, just after some advice. I’m 29 years old and work in the mines. I travel to Thailand every two weeks on my RNR and from what I know Australia has a free visa and it says you can enter the country as much as you want as long as it’s from the air. My issue is, I’ve applied for a multi entry visa and currently waiting on it because I don’t want to be denied entry due to going over too many times and obviously I want to the right thing and I know immigration will start to become suspicious after a while. Is there any other visas I can get to stay in Thailand and still travel to Australia for work? It almost seems impossible just purely because of my age.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, who works in the mines and frequently travels to Thailand for rest and recreation (RNR), seeks advice on visa options due to concerns about potential immigration issues from multiple entries. Commenters suggest that having proof of employment and explaining the travel situation usually avoids problems with immigration. Some recommend considering an Elite visa as another option, while others emphasize that as long as the user doesn't exceed 50% of their time in Thailand, they are likely to remain compliant with immigration regulations.

I think as long as you don't stay more than 50% of the time in Thailand, you won't have issues. If you actually work in the mines outside of Thailand and come spend your vacations in Thailand, that's being a genuine tourist.

People who get troubles getting in are usually inside of Thailand way more than outside. Like staying in Thailand 60 days then out for a few days, then in Thailand again 60 days etc. That's a very different ratio than yours

There are literally hundreds of guys who have done this and still doing this. Just a matter of the officer being told by you of your work schedule. They are also well aware that you are spending money here too on a very regular basis.

Look, if you can show Thai Immigration proof of your work and the regular „Rest and Recreation" time outs you receive from the company you work for

They might be very lenient to you, regarding consecutive visa-exempt entries, that last only for two weeks anyways and you are not misusing the system

There are Oil Riggers on Phuket who also got “on-and-off” jobs on the platforms, interrupted by holidays in Thailand – these guys also arrive visa exempt

Take your chance and ask next time you enter. Can’t lose anything by asking

exact. Probably good to carry some proof, letter from employer, home address, work record etc

Did it for two years 3 on 3 off. Only once was I asked and told them my work schedule. No problem.

I did same for 2.5 years.....in and out by air every weekend . Never an issue, asked why once and said my girlfriend is here. If you don't break law overstay etc you will be fine

Know a lot of guys working a similar work schedule ( myself included ) and have never really had a problem ! After explaining the work situation ....

Fingers crossed, I’ll keep up with the multi entry visas. I know immigration is cracking down on people abusing the system. I just hope I’m not one of them

your case isn't abusing the system though. You're not trying to live in Thailand or work in Thailand. You just like to visit during your time off

You could look at an Elite visa

I did look at that, but for what it’s worth I honestly don’t think it’s worth it

it's not cheap but does do what you want and is probably your only option other than tourist visas.
