Hi!

I’m just wondering if any fellow Australians have successfully applied for a Thai Education Visa in Australia, through the Thai Embassy in Canberra? (I would have to apply via post)

What was your experience?

Specifically, was the 90 day wording on your passport ok - did you have any problems getting the next 90 day visa when you were in Thailand?

I’m heading back to Oz anyway so I’m hoping to just apply there - but if it’s easier I will just come in again on a Tourist Visa and apply while I’m here and apply in Vientiane.

Thanks very much!

Cheers

Ali

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post inquires about the experiences of Australians applying for a Thai Education Visa through the Thai Embassy in Canberra, specifically regarding the application process, issues with the 90-day visa wording, and alternatives for applying while in Thailand. Comments highlight the necessity of having a school sponsor and preparing documentation before applying.

My understanding (Canadian who stayed a year on an ed visa in 2020, but I was in Thailand already when Covid closed down everything, and was on the ‘amnesty visa’ but changed to an ed visa in case the amnesty ended suddenly, which was actually recommended by the government, so it was easy to get) is you need to have your ‘schooling’ all set up before you apply. Usually that means you pick a school and get the school to do most of the paper & leg work and arrange the process for you (you can probably legally do it yourself, but navigating Thai immigration on your own if you have no past experience in doing so is not going to be a fun experience with a greater chance of failure.)

thanks! I’m not going to take on navigating Thai Immigration. I am working with the local school here around paperwork and documents and will have all of that ready to apply.

You need to have a sponsor for an ed visa to provide the paperwork you need to apply
