What’s the best sim card to get? Do most sim cards expire every 30 days - can I just top it up or do I need to buy a sim every 30 days?
Answer summary
In Thailand, the best SIM card often varies based on personal needs, but many users recommend AIS for its reception and data options. SIM cards generally do not expire within 30 days if you keep them topped up. You can opt for plans that last longer, such as annual plans from AIS or DTAC, which provide data for extended periods as long as you maintain your balance. Users have shared positive experiences with various providers, including AIS, DTAC, and True, each offering different benefits. Always ensure to top up your SIM to maintain its validity.

A normal DTAC sim, 50 baht. Than top up with what you need. Each top up gives you 30 more days validity. You can keep the sim for years, just make sure it is still valid.
The best sim card is the one that has the best reception in the areas you are most frequently in. AIS one2call is the best in my view, you don't need a contract just top up your call credits as required and you can add on an annual data option
I have a 1 year plan from AIS. I went to the their shop and asked for a Sim Thep. I forget what I paid, it wasn't much. It is data for 364 days then you top up. I also added 50 baht for calls & sms. I have only made one call, that was to my bank back in Australia & I still have calls credit. True were absolutely useless & tried to push a tourist package.
