TLDR : Answer Summary
For the best eSIM options in Thailand, particularly for Ko Samui, users recommend AIS for its strong 5G coverage, noting it hasn't switched to 4G during their use. Others have praised Dtac for use in Hua Hin and shared that converting physical SIMs to eSIMs is efficient at local stores like True. Many also suggest getting local SIM cards for cheaper rates and better performance compared to options obtained from the airport.

Get a physical Sim not at the airport for AIS. If you don’t have dual sim, do an eSIM for your home country provider and insert the Thai AIS for data, Line and WhatsApp use. I have this and for three years it works awesome. Can make monthly payments at any AIS store and I have left for two months, came back, paid worked fine.

A friend has a house in Hua Hin and he always uses Dtac. Can anyone recommend a sim card for Thailand and Vietnam?

I had a True SIM card, then converted it to an eSIM. There is an option in the app to convert it, but I couldn’t get it to work. I went to the True shop, and they did it in 5 minutes.

I got a AIS 5G esim at the airport. It's not dropped to 4G in a week so far.
