Are Vientiane and Penang still the easiest places to go for a SETV?

Also, should I have any problems getting an SETV if I already have 3 visa exemptions (plus one extension) this year?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation confirms that Vientiane remains one of the easiest places to obtain a Single Entry Tourist Visa (SETV), with some users recently acquiring their visas without needing to show "proof-of" documents. In contrast, Penang has additional requirements such as proof of onward travel and hotel bookings. Additionally, there is concern about complications due to already having multiple visa exemptions within the current year, but no specific issues were mentioned regarding approval for SETV in such cases.

Well I had applied for 2 thai SETV. I got 2 extensions in BKK, 1 stamp in BKK airport and 1 stamp crossing the border last December.

It was my 3rd application for SETV

you didn't get the "too many tourist visa" stamp from them this time did you?

Sometimes people don't even see that stamped in their passport or on the visa :O

That's correct regarding Penang Todd

They ask to show 20,000 in cash at border if you cross by land at Sadao. Penang Consulate doesn't require financial proof for SETV. It does for Ed Visa.

As of now, Vientiane seems to be the easier of the two. Currently they require none of the "proof-of's".

I could be wrong but I believe Penang requires proof of onward travel and a hotel booking..

Correct Tod, Penang requires return ticket and hotel booking or house rental contract.
