Tod, Robert and the wise men! My ED Visa is approaching the end and I have been offered a contract with a BOI company. I will likely need to do a visa run though to buy some time, what is the easiest or most hassle free consulate/embassy in the neighbouring countires to go buy a SETV (I have a German Passport)? From many posts about various visas, it seems to be Laos at this point?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is nearing the end of their ED Visa and has received a job offer from a BOI company. They are considering doing a visa run to obtain a SETV (Single Entry Tourist Visa) and are inquiring about the most hassle-free consulate or embassy in neighboring countries for this purpose, specifically mentioning Laos as a possible option. Comments provide insights on the importance of officially canceling the current ED visa and also suggest Vientiane, Laos, as a busy but easy choice for obtaining the visa, while another user suggests considering a 3-month Non-B visa instead.

why you not get a 3 month non b visa ?

They have managed it previously for a few other employees, but would prefer the SETV as opposed visa exemption, just for safety

might also depends the office admin - 2 of ours could not manage it.

we tried that twice and could not do it under BOI , and the Chamchuri Immi recommended to do it outside - just my experience - from last 2 years.

he has a job offer with a BOI (Board Of Investment) registered company. All he needs is either a 30 day visa exempt entry or a 60 day tourist visa entry and they can do the 90 day Non-B inside the country at the BOI office without any problem.

There's no need to hoop jump at a thai consulate for a 90 day single entry Non-B

That's awesome and crystal clear. Thanks a lot for that

, make sure you go to the immigration office with paperwork from your school and CANCEL your ED visa extension (if you are indeed on an extension). While failing to do that won't stop you from getting a visa from a thai consulate it can run you off the rails when you try to get a new extension based on employment without having officially cancelled the one you were on based on education.

Have the school write a paper stating you are stopping studying on the day you want to leave the country. Go to the immigration office a week or so before that date. They will cancel your current extension and stamp you in until the date on your letter from the school. THEN your 100% clear to go get a tourist visa, convert it to a 90 day Non-B and get the BOI two year extension after that.

Yep, Vientiane in Laos, busy but easy.

Passport picture and application form and the 1.000 Thb fees for the visa, is what I read every time here.
