Follow-up on recent post. I have just returned from Vientiane with a 60-day tourist visa. Looking ahead, I may have to again go for another tourist visa when this one expires. Would appreciate suggestions for most friendly destinations (where I might not be asked for a ticket for onward travel) and also a destination that is smooth in terms of travel, fair-priced accommodations, and relatively hassel-free. Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on destinations for applying for a tourist visa to Thailand that are traveler-friendly and do not require onward travel tickets, after returning from Vientiane with a 60-day tourist visa. Comments suggest that Vientiane is a favorable option for obtaining tourist visas due to its less stringent requirements compared to other consulates, with no proof of funds or onward travel necessary. It's also noted that a tourist visa grants a 60-day stay, extendable for an additional 30 days.
ALL tourist visa entries are 60 days so if you got a tourist visa from a thai consulate in Vientiane (or anywhere else) when you enter the country you'd get stamped in for 60 days.
you're not gonna be able to hit that consulate over and over and over but getting two tourist visas in a row from them isn't going to raise any red flags.
As a rule IF you're gonna try to live here on tourist visas you should start using a different thai consulate each time. At some point you're going to get the red-warning stamp from a consulate saying you've gotten too many tourist visas from them and that you can't use them anymore
the most user friendly thai consulate in S/E Asia is the one in Vientiane. (Although it is also the busiest for just that reason).
They don't require proof of anything unlike the other consulates around here that require proof of funds, proof of onward travel and proof of a hotel booking.
You're fine going to Vientiane for another tourist visa without a problem.
