I am wondering if anyone may know the answer to my question. I already live in Thailand and my Italian father is applying from Italy for the retirement O/A Visa. We are trying to find a local insurance company for him to get insurance from so he can properly fill out the visa application form (he already has global Cigna insurance but it doesn't seem like that is what the application form is for). The next hurdle is finding a local insurance company that covers people 83 years old and up, especially that accepts people that age in their first application (as opposed to a renewal). He is still very adventurous :) Has anyone found a solution to finding an insurance company to get coverage with from abroad for the application process that accepts people that age? Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about acquiring local health insurance for their 83-year-old father, who is applying for a retirement O/A Visa from Italy. They are exploring options as their father's current global Cigna insurance may not meet the application requirements. Community members suggest alternatives, such as applying for a Non-O Visa within Thailand where insurance is not required. They highlight the challenges of obtaining insurance for seniors and recommend leveraging the existing Cigna plan if possible.

Trying to change insurance once you are over a certain age is hard. I am curious as to why his worldwide Cigna doesn't work. I would try my hardest to keep the current insurance

when it comes to filling out the form, it really looks like it is meant to do with an insurance company in Thailand (when we fill it out with his current insurance, there are parts we cannot do).

With the “ foreign insurance verification form” it is possible if you meet the requirements. For me with AETNA, after 3 months of emails it was not possible. I had to buy redundant insurance from a Thai company.

Hi, are you aware that if he gets a Non O in Thailand instead of Non O A he doesn't need to provide insurance ? Then he would have his insurance he already has to rely on. There is a requirement for funds in Thai bank though,🙏

Why not have him enter visa exempt. No insurance needed. Apply for a Non O in country. Again no insurance needed. Almost impossible for an 83 year old to get any form of insurance
