If I’m on an O retirement visa and I renew my passport while abroad- what happens when I re-enter Thailand? Is my info “in the system already” ? Would I need to show the old passport with as well? Thanks.
Answer summary
When you renew your passport while on an O retirement visa and re-enter Thailand, you should present both your old and new passports at immigration. They will stamp your new passport and note that you are entering on a retirement visa from the old passport. Additionally, you need to visit the immigration office that issued your visa to have your visa transferred to the new passport. Don’t forget to file the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) using your new passport number.

People do this quite a lot
What you do is show BOTH passports when you go to stamp IN to thailand, they will stamp you in on the new passport and make a note that you entered on a "retirement visa/re-entr permit" from the old passport.
THEN
You need to go to the immigration office that issued the extension and get the stamps moved to the new passport
Just so you are clear you file the TDAC (Thailand Digital Arrival Card) using the new passport number 🙂
