TLDR : Answer Summary
If you have your DTV (Long-term Visa) approved, you do not need to enter Thailand immediately. You can enjoy your time in Vietnam for as long as you like. Once the DTV is issued, it allows you to enter Thailand anytime within the 5-year term. You can stay in Thailand for 2-5 months at a time and spend 90 days in Vietnam, which offers flexibility to travel between the two countries.
