What does the 'extension of stay under consideration' stamp mean for my visa extension in Thailand?

We thought we got our second extension yesterday at immigration (we had the personalized letter, paid the money etc), then when we looked at the stamp it said this. Anyone know what it means (besides what it literally means). Why it’s not just an extension stamp like the first? What happens if in a month it’s not approved?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The stamp received during the visa extension process indicates that your extension is currently under consideration and is valid for a specific period (in this case, until April 21). Community members suggested that this temporary stamp is being used by immigration due to uncertainty about visa regulations, likely related to the current situation with flights and paperwork. It's advised to stay updated on immigration's response over the next month, and if needed, return to immigration for further instructions.

That is the extension stamp they're giving to people with the embassy letter

It IS an "extension of stay under consideration" stamp IT IS a valid stamp, and you can see it was issued because of the stamp (if you can read thai) that says สถานทูตรับรอง <- embassy letter

Repurposing the stamp because no time to make new stamps!

we all get this for non b extension after getting the WP. they give a month for consideration and you go there again after a month and they give your actual extension.

Did you fly in and get a visa exemption originally or do you have a current visa for Thailand? If so, which one?

I came in visa exempt, then extended 30 days tourist, and now got this. Did not fly out and in

I believe this is just a temporary stamp they are using since they aren’t sure what is happening with visas. I had them use it once when I didn’t have my TM30 for my ED visa. Gave me this stamp and a month to bring the paperwork back, then extended me like normal. Looks like right now you are good until April 21 and then need to either leave Thailand or return to immigration. Obviously it’s looking like a lot (if not all) flights are getting cancelled so just try and keep up to date and see what immigration says over the next month.

That's interesting. This might be a good thing.

It's the same stamp they use for the 30 day under consideration for a yearly extension on an O visa. When you come back after 30 day to collect your extension stamp in your passport

I’m thinking the same thing. Seems like they aren’t capping people out and are going to continue to extend on a monthly basis.
