Yesterday I went to the immigration here in Chiang Mai to do a 7 days extension of my visa (came to Thailand by air on 17th of July + 30 days extension valid until yesterday ). I don't actually understand what they did with the stamps, am I allowed to stay in Thailand until the 22nd (I'll leave on the 21st) or should I have gone out yesterday because they refused it ?

I was there with my girlfriend and she got the same stamps too, we went to ask and the immigration officer said we don't have to pay anything if we leave before the 22nd but honestly we didn't understand if he said that just to have us gone or because it is like that.

Any idea? What should we do ?

Sorry if someone already asked this but I couldn't find an answer

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking clarification about the stamps received after applying for a visa extension in Chiang Mai, indicating uncertainty about their ability to stay in Thailand until August 22nd. Responses confirm that the stamps mean they can stay until the 22nd because their application for an extension was not approved, and they were given a 7-day grace period to leave the country before that date.

I think the text is clear enough: The application of extension of Stay is not approved, Applicant must leave the Kingdom not latest than 22 Aug 2017. So you must leave before or on 22 Aug.

Yes I understand now that I know a 7 days extension doesn't exist but they kind of refuse another 30 days extension and give you 7 days to get out of the country. I thought they refused the 7 days and wrote the wrong day or something like that

You've got until the 22nd to leave Thailand

Technically, there is no "7 day extension", it is a denial of extension and they give you 7 days to leave. What you got is entirely standard, not unusual. You are fine until 22.

You can stay UNTILL 22ND AUG , that's what the stamp means. Its's just a WAY OF SAYING that any further exrension after yr 30 days extn is NOT ALLOWED and hence 7 days GRACE PERIOD is given to pack your paraphernalia and get out.
